As we continue to uphold our legacy of excellence, we are seeking a forward-thinking Director of Human Resources to lead our people strategy and foster a culture of warmth, professionalism, and innovation.

Position Summary:

The Director of Human Resources will serve as a strategic business partner to the hotel's leadership team, overseeing all human resources functions, from recruitment and employee relations to training, compliance, and organizational culture. This role is critical in supporting our team’s development and ensuring that every guest experience is backed by a passionate, well-supported staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the operational and service goals of Warwick New York.

  • Lead talent acquisition efforts across all hotel departments, ensuring high-quality candidates and efficient onboarding processes.

  • Foster a culture of excellence through employee engagement, recognition, and development programs.

  • Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management with professionalism and discretion.

  • Ensure compliance with NYC, NY State, and federal employment laws, including wage & hour laws and workplace safety regulations.

  • Oversee benefits administration, workers’ compensation, leave management, and employee wellness initiatives.

  • Maintain and enhance employee handbook, policies, and procedures to reflect current legislation and hotel standards.

  • Provide guidance and training to department managers on HR best practices and labor relations.

  • Serve as a liaison with union representatives and support collective bargaining processes, if applicable.

  • Monitor HR metrics and reporting to support data-driven decision-making.

  • Process payroll and help department heads and managers monitor and review timecards.

Labor Relations & Compliance:

  • Serve as the primary liaison with union representatives and ensure adherence to collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).

  • Manage all aspects of labor relations, including grievance handling, disciplinary actions, contract negotiations, and arbitrations.

  • Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws, including those specific to the New York hospitality industry.

  • Stay current on legal updates from organizations like the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL), National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and Hotel Trades Council (HTC).

  • Guide hotel leadership on union contract interpretation, labor standards, and best practices for maintaining a positive union-management relationship.

  • Lead union audits and ensure HR policies and practices reflect union requirements and labor regulations.

  • Train and support department heads on managing unionized employees effectively and within legal frameworks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Hospitality Management, or related field; Master’s degree or HR certification preferred.

  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in the hospitality industry.

  • Previous experience in a luxury or full-service hotel environment in NYC strongly preferred.

  • Familiar with and experienced in NYC labor laws and union environments is a must.

  • Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times.

  • Possess excellent presentation, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Computer literacy to include, but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Payroll system and report running experience, preferable with ADP Workforce NOW platform

  • Ability to comprehend, read, write and speak English fluently.
