Rare opportunity to join a global EPC firm that is 100% employee-owned. They have openings for 2 Sr. Structural Engineers – one for oil/gas/refinery and one for chemical/specialty chem/pulp & paper, steel. Direct hire, positions based in Mobile, AL. Salaries up to $175K.

Job Summary:

Responsible for performing all aspects for complete design of complex civil/structural engineering assignments, with an emphasis on foundations and structural steel.

Responsibilities:

• Produce detail design calculations and sketches for materials of construction associated with the project as well as checking other engineer’s calcs to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria and conformance to good engineering practice.
• Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies, produce estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs
• Produce designs with efficient use of construction materials with an overall emphasis on ease of construction and completed product meeting the expectations of the client.
• Address identified design and scope changes.
• Develop construction specifications.
• Review fabrication drawings and other construction.
• Mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements:

• B.S. or M.S. in Structural Engineering. PE License preferred.
• 15+ years of structural engineering experience in oil/gas, chemical, or similar industry.
• Demonstrated experience with STAAD Pro or other structural analysis software.
• Knowledge and application of the International Building Code and associated standards (ASCE, AISC, ACI, etc.).
• Ability to develop a construction cost estimate, a detailed engineering schedule and a man-hour budget, and develop specs.
• Stable job history.
• Ability to lead a small team to deliver on commitments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
