Your Tasks And Responsibilities

You will work collaboratively to deliver daily and weekly targets under corporate timelines. Additionally, you will drive discovery and product development by designing, conducting, and interpreting complex experiments.

The primary responsibilities of this role, Bioanalytical Scientist - Postdoctoral, are to:

  • Conduct and contribute to research projects, technologies, publications as primary author, intellectual property, or trade secrets;
  • Apply defined scientific principles to solve complex scientific problems;
  • Develop and implement research and/or technology-driven proposals;
  • Function as primary author for scientific reports;
  • Effectively communicates research findings;
  • Demonstrate a sustained high level of technical skill and achievement;
  • Keeps abreast of new science and technological developments and exploit them to continuously improve functional area capabilities;
  • Foster team-based approach to research; interacting with colleagues in other functions/ departments to solve problems;
  • Be responsible for end-to-end analysis of samples from complex sources (microbial, plant and insect);
  • Demonstrate sample preparation expertise;
  • Extract and enrich proteins of interest from relevant tissues, preparing the sample for MS analysis, and conducting complex LC-MS experiments;
  • Support existing routine pipeline characterization workflows including QC of recombinantly produced proteins via peptide mapping;
  • Maintain MS Lab equipment and trouble-shoot;
  • Prioritize and coordinate work within a large team;
  • Maintain detailed records and required documentation;
  • Follow safety standards and practices.


Who You Are

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D;
  • Research experience with applied mass spectrometry-based techniques including proteomics, and peer-reviewed publications in the field;
  • Hands-on experience with operation and maintenance of UHPLC and MS instruments;
  • Expertise in biological sample preparation techniques including enrichment (immunocapture, separations/fractionations) of proteins from complex biological matrices;
  • Deep understanding of protein modification, structure and function, and MS-based protein quantification;
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization software (Proteome Discoverer, PEAKS);
  • Strong biology acumen with the ability to independently design experiments, analyze data, and creative problem-solving;
  • Demonstrated record of developing or implementing new ideas and technologies within a company or academic lab setting.

Relocation may be offered for this role.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $86,394.40 to $129,591.60. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
