Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Manager of Packaging who’s ready to lead the charge in a fast-moving, high-volume printing environment.

Position Summary:

The Senior Manager, Packaging will lead the packaging function within a high-volume printing manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for developing and executing packaging strategies that ensure product integrity, optimize production efficiency, and support sustainability goals. Based in Lakeland, Florida, the ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in high-speed packaging for printed materials, strong leadership skills, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the design, development, and implementation of high-speed packaging solutions for printed products, ensuring protection, presentation, and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Prepress, Quality, Logistics, and Procurement to align packaging with operational and customer requirements.
• Lead packaging trials and validations to ensure compatibility with printing and finishing equipment.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, material optimization, and waste reduction.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and customer specifications.
• Manage relationships with packaging suppliers, including sourcing, negotiation, and performance evaluation.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, KPIs, and staffing plans.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of packaging engineers, designers, and technicians.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 8+ years of experience in packaging development within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the printing or paper products industry.
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, converting processes, and equipment used in print production.
• Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in packaging design and analysis tools (e.g., SAP, ArtiosCAD, CAPE, TOPS, SolidWorks).•
• Familiarity with sustainability initiatives and recyclable/biodegradable packaging solutions.
• Knowledge of ERP systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES
