Grade Two Teacher (Full-Time)

The Waldorf School of San Diego is seeking a full-time Second Grade Teacher to join our dedicated and experienced team of teachers in sunny San Diego. We are looking for the position to be filled during this current school year with a potential start date of February 1, 2026.

With the support of the Grades Chair and a designated mentor, the Second Grade Teacher will plan, guide, and deliver a developmentally appropriate curriculum that supports the children’s natural growth and unfolding. Grounded in the principles of Waldorf education, this role nurtures each student’s innate capacities and encourages them toward healthy development and their fullest potential.

The ideal candidate brings a creative, warm, and joyful presence, along with a steady and calming demeanor with students. Flexibility, paired with the ability to uphold healthy rhythms and routines, is essential for this role.

The Second Grade Teacher position is ideal for an individual who brings a warm, confident, and calming presence to children; collaborates well with colleagues; and is committed to excellence in teaching as well as ongoing professional and personal development. A dedication to the continued study and renewal of Waldorf education is essential, and an interest in or foundational understanding of anthroposophy is strongly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• Waldorf teaching certificate (currently enrolled students will be considered)
• Preferred teaching experience in a Waldorf School or other elementary education
• Commitment to continued learning of Waldorf pedagogy and an anthroposophical understanding of child development
• Interest or some understanding of Waldorf classroom management, including Kim John Payne’s Three Care Streams process and other restorative discipline techniques
• Commitment to engaging in the work of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice
• Close connection to nature with a commitment to the preservation and protection of our planet
• We are seeking a candidate who is available to begin as soon as possible.

Compensation:

• $63,000 – $75,000 Annual salary based on experience.
