Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire an Office Coordinator for Eldon Hazlet State Recreation Area, Carlyle Lake SFWA, Washington County SRA and satellites. This position will answer calls to explain or clarify rules and regulations, programs, and procedures, use the computer to prepare a variety of documents, databases and spreadsheets, prepare and process purchase requests and invoice vouchers, and serves as timekeeper for assigned sites. Essential Functions

  • Under direct supervision of the Site Superintendent, performs complex, specialized office support function duties for Eldon Hazlet State Recreation Area, Carlyle Lake SFWA, Washington County SRA and satellites.
  • Assists with preparation of operational budgets, equipment requests, and inventory records.
  • Serves as timekeeper for assigned sites and staff.
  • Prepares complex correspondence and memos from written and dictated instruction, including safety issues, questionnaires, department information and numerous detailed information requests from visitors and other agencies.
  • Develops complex, multi-program databases, spreadsheets, forms, and applications for fast and efficient completion of routine reports.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college, or completion of high school and two years of related office experience or two years of independent business experience.
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience of utilizing basic mathematics.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with various computer programs/software.
  • Two (2) years of experience following oral or written instructions.
  • Extensive knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Office of Land Management

The Office of Land Management (OLM) oversees nearly 400 individual parcels of land and institutes a wide variety of programs and activities advocating outdoor recreation through sustainable use, conservation, and preservation. The Historic Sites Division of the Office of Land Management oversees 57 Historic Sites, Monuments, and Memorials. OLM facilitates activities from small group interpretive programming at Historical Sites, to hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping.
