Title: Health Assistant I-medical secretary
Position Type: 06+ Months contract with potential extensions
Location: Cambridge, MA 02138 ONSITE
Pay rate: $27/hour on W2
NOTE :
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (7 hours/day, 35 hours/week)
Duration: Approximately 5–6 months (covering a medical leave)
Location: 100% Onsite Overtime: Possible opportunity for additional hours
Key Responsibilities:
Provide administrative and/or secretarial support in a medical office or hospital setting Work within electronic medical records (EMR) systems Deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in a medical office or hospital setting, especially with EMR systems Associate’s degree or certification in a medical-related field (High School Diploma or GED accepted) Bilingual in Spanish or Mandarin is a plus (not required)

Strong customer service orientation with a positive, compassionate, and upbeat attitude Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Job Description:
The Medical Secretary or Health Assistant I provides assistance in delivering high quality health care and exceptional customer service in a busy ambulatory care clinic serving the Harvard community. Serves as the primary contact with patients and provides general administrative support to physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurses on the team. Duties include: greeting and assisting patients at the clinics front desk, answering the clinic's telephones and routing messages to providers, scheduling and confirming clinical appointments, tracking immunization history, coordinating referrals, processing incoming and outgoing clinical correspondence, maintaining files, processing and tracking outside referrals, and managing patient flow. Perform other related duties as needed.
Required occupational training, certifications or license(s)
Worker must provide a Letter of Good Health, signed by a physician, and an immunization record that shows compliance with HUHS Immunization Policy, to HUHS HR, on first day of assignment.
Required
One to two years of previous secretarial/administrative assistant experience. Education beyond high school.
Preferred
Graduate of a business/secretarial school or Medical Assistant program. Experience working with an electronic medical record. Health care/patient service experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Bilingual skills.
