Job Description

Job Title:- Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Duration:- 12- months position (May go Longer)

Location:- Fort Wayne, IN, United States

Work Hours:- Second Shift (03:00 PM to 11:00 PM)

Job Description:-

  • This position is comprised of Millwrights, Pipefitters, and Machine Repair trades.
  • The successful candidates will enjoy working with their hands in a team environment.
  • New equipment installation, CNC troubleshooting and repair, hydraulics, automation, and PLC controlled equipment.
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing the mechanics of production-based equipment.
  • Ability to read hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical prints.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and complete work orders.
  • Fabrication of machine guards, work platforms and other items used in the manufacturing process.
  • Thread, crimp, and install pipe used for steam, gas, water, air, and liquid.
  • Use of a wide variety of precision measuring instruments for exacting measurements.
  • Work from general assignment and process with minimum Supervisor and direction.
  • Close all work orders assigned to in Emaint each day accurately and timely.
  • Follow all Safety policies and procedures.

Skills Required

  • Valid Journeyperson card or 8 years of practical trade-related experience
  • Machining Operations (turning, milling, hobbing)
  • Grinding Operations • Heat Treat Operations
  • Assembly Operations (light pressing, gaging)
  • Welding Operations (Arc, Mig)
  • Machine Repair/Hydraulic expert preferred.

Experience Required Physical Requirements

  • Ability to occasionally sit, crawl, reach, twist, push, pull, grip, pinch, crouch/squat, forward bend, forward sit, forward stand, and climb stairs/ladders.
  • Ability to frequently stand and walk.
  • Ability to exert light lifting and carrying under 25 lbs up to 33% of the time.
  • Ability to exert moderate lifting and carrying of 25-49 lbs up to 33% of the time.
  • Ability to exert heavy lifting and carrying 50+lbs up to 33% of the time.
  • Ability to occasionally perform repetitive motion activities.

Additional Information

New hires will start on 1st shift for a 90-day probationary period, during which we assess skill levels.

There’s a strong possibility that some may move to 3rd shift, particularly as we anticipate upcoming retirements on that shift.

Additional Details from the Plant: Each shift includes one designated “trickman” and one “alternate trickman” to ensure continuous coverage.
