Job Opportunity: Chief Mine Engineer

Infinitek Group is partnering with a global mining company with operations worldwide.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chief Mine Engineer to lead and manage Surveying, Ore Control, and Short to Medium Range Planning. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in open pit mining engineering, with strong leadership and mentoring abilities. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the execution of mine plans, coordinating with key stakeholders, and driving operations to maximize profitability while maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Ore Control, Short, Medium, and Long-term planning teams, as well as surveying efforts.
• Mentor and guide Ore/Grade Control Engineers, maximizing ore value by considering economics, geology, and metallurgy.
• Assist Short Range Planners in developing, executing, and monitoring weekly and monthly plans.
• Actively participate in weekly planning meetings and strategic decision-making processes.
• Collaborate with operations, geology, processing, hydrology, geotechnical, and drill & blast teams to coordinate mine plans and ensure alignment.
• Contribute to Long Range Planning, including fleet sizing, dump designs, technical studies, and asset optimization.
• Identify and address mine design and fleet efficiency issues, troubleshooting operational challenges and recommending solutions.
• Develop strategies to monitor and improve team performance.
• Assist in the development and updating of engineering policies and procedures.
• Oversee the creation and management of annual budgets.
• Track production and performance against both long- and short-term mine plans.
• Lead and implement special projects as needed.
• Ensure all engineering designs comply with sound engineering principles.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: At least 5 years of experience in open-pit mine planning and operations.
• Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Hexagon MinePlan, along with experience in Mine planning and design software such as Vulcan, Datamine, and FMS software like Modular Mining Dispatch and ProVision. Familiarity with databases such as acQuire and Access is also required.
• Skills:
• Strong leadership abilities with experience leading a diverse team of engineers and technicians.
• Self-motivated, safety-conscious, and focused on maintaining a positive work environment.
• Excellent time management, prioritization, and project management skills.
• Knowledge of MSHA, State regulations, Environmental, and Safety compliance.
• Proven experience in developing and managing annual budgets.
